Joe Allen Kennedy, 82, of Pevely died Oct. 13, 2022 in Pevely. Mr. Kennedy was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a crane operator for Doe Run Lead for many years. He was a member of the Sanctuary Church in Otto. Born Dec. 25, 1939, in Fredericktown, he was the son of the late Clarence and Bertha (Green) Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia S. (Portell) Kennedy of Pevely; a son: Joe (Michelle) Kennedy Jr. of Festus; four daughters: Amy Kennedy of Pevely, Rhonda (Andy) Bonds of Festus, Phyllis (the late Terry) Helms of Ohio and Carla (Barry) Strnad of Festus; a sister: Glenda Fox of Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Scott Kennedy; four brothers: Johnny Mitten, J.R. Mitten, Owen Kennedy and Jay Kennedy; and six sisters: Opel Mitten, Ruth Mitten, Betty Kennedy, Ester Simmons, Norma Jean Baker and Vera Kennedy.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Drive, in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Peaceful Ridge Mausoleum in De Soto. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the dirdction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
