Jennifer Lynn (Schmaltz) Kraus, 40, of Hillsboro died Aug. 28, 2021, in St. Louis County. Mrs. Kraus was raised in Florida and graduated from Lake Brantley High School in 1999 and later attended cosmetology school. She moved to the Hillsboro area in 2011. She and her family enjoyed participating in Black Friday shopping together. She enjoyed crafting, shopping, talking on the phone and especially spending time with her family, who so enjoyed Black Friday shopping together they had matching hoodies to wear for the occasion. She was a volunteer for the Hillsboro R-3 School District and actively involved in her children’s activities there. Born April 1, 1981, at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, she was the daughter of Donna E. (Chris) Haarer of Fort Piece, Fla., and Kenneth E. (Christine) Schmaltz of Illinois.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband: David J. Kraus of Hillsboro; two daughters: Sydney and Bri Kraus of Hillsboro; two sons: Jaden and Sean Kraus of Hillsboro; two grandmothers: Rose M. Fulcher of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Carolyn S. Schmaltz of Washington, Mo.; four sisters: Ashley (Schmaltz) Lewis of Fort Pierce, Fla., Deanna Vaugh of Bradenton, Fla., Kathleen Hahn of Cedar Hill and Lisa Simpson of Cedar Hill; and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by two grandfathers: Kevin Reid and Kenneth E. Schmaltz.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until a funeral service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to the GoFundMe page established in her memory on Facebook. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
