Knight, Jeanne

Jeanne F. Bliss Knight, 90, of De Soto died Sept. 14, 2019, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mrs. Knight was a homemaker and worked at Westland Pharmacy in De Soto. She was a active member of the First Baptist Church in De Soto, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, was head of senior luncheons and dinners and assisted with bereavement dinners. She was born May 25, 1929, in Granite City, Ill., the daughter of the late John Wallace Sr. and Grace (Merseal) Politte. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Wayne Bliss Sr.

She is survived by her husband: Junior Knight; three children: Wayne (Becky) Bliss Jr. of De Soto, Rhonda (Dr. Lance) Allen of Stilwell, Kan., and John “Buzz” (Cindy Laiben) Bliss of Imperial; two stepdaughters: Dana Knight of De Soto and Doris Hopper of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter-in law: Gale Bliss of Festus; a son-in-law: Tim Bishop of Hillsboro; Seven grandchildren:  Sean (Stephanie) Bliss, Dresden Striklin, Brianna Bishop, Krysten (Caedrynn) Conner, Keely Allen, Mackenzie (Damon) Comerio and Brennan (Josh) Hendrick; three step-grandchildren: Alessa (Steve) Brakeman, Danyelle (Craig) Dowling and Mylinda (Josh) Vollett; 15 great-grandchildren: Samantha, Alyssa, Dylan, Bren, Auggie, Kayla, Ethan, Andraya, Tatum, Mykah, Liam, Mya, Lexi, Carmine and Gianna; six step-great-grandchildren: Chase, Gray, Mason, Zoe, Kayleigh, and Kinsley; and one great-great grandchild: Carson.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Connie Bishop; a son: Dennis Bliss; two sisters: Norma Faye Price and Verna Martin; and two brothers: John W. Politte Jr. and Roscoe Politte.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at First Baptist Church, 2000 Grace Way, in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Gene Smith. Burial is in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 2000 Grace Way, De Soto, 63020; to  Season’s Hospice, 3660 S. Geyer Road, Ste. 120, St. Louis, 63127; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, 63132. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
