Janet Lee (Govro) Manning, 74, of Herculaneum died Jan. 20, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Manning had been a member of the VFW Post 3777 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 253 Ladies Auxiliary and Amvets Post 42 Ladies Auxiliary. She was born May 29, 1945 in Bonne Terre, the daughter of the late Gladys (Ferguson) and William Henry Govro. She was preceded in death by her husband: Jack Ray Manning.
She is survived by a son: Richard J. (Natalie) Manning of Herculaneum; two daughters: Janet Marie (Scott) Brown of Hillsboro and Wanda Sue (Tim) Lindsey of De Soto; a sister: Earline (the late Thomas) Pruitte of Ware; a brother: Verlon “Pedo” (Lorraine “Chicky”) Govro of Festus; six grandchildren: Ronnie Lindsey, Jackie Lindsey, Jessica (Brandon) Lovett, James (Jennifer) Manning, Jack (Alice) Manning and Amanda (BJ) Kausler; and eight great-grandchildren: Cassie Lovett, Joseph (Kayti) Lovett, Kaitlyn Lovett, Braeden Lovett, Gavin Lovett, Shantel Kausler, Hannah Kausler and Keegan Kausler.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Eleanor (Robert) Rhineberger, Marilyn “Peggy” Compton and Patsy J. (Charles) Evans; and a brother: Clifford (Cindy) Govro.
Visitation is at 9 a.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for noon Monday, Jan. 27, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Sister Vicki Markotay. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
