James Ray Sievers, 63, Affton, formerly of Jefferson County

James Ray Sievers, 63, of Affton, formerly of Jefferson County, died March 20, 2023. Mr. Sievers, nicknamed “Jimbo” by his Aunt Glo, attended elementary school at Our Lady Queen of Peace, graduated from Northwest High School in 1977 and earned an associate degree in diesel mechanics from the University of Tennessee in 1979. He worked on tractor-trailers for TLC in Fenton and then became a driver and started Sievers Transportation. He later drove for TLC and Dino’s Trucking and then moved to Colorado and after that North Dakota, driving ready-mix trucks in both places, before moving back to the St. Louis area to be closer to family. As a boy, he raced motorcycles. He loved sports and in addition to riding motorcycles, he enjoyed riding bicycles, traveling, waterskiing, snow skiing and playing ping pong. He also liked fast cars, especially his old, souped-up Chevrolet Nova. He had many friends and made new ones wherever he went. Born Nov. 3, 1959, he was the son of the late Vivian Jane (Brouk) and Elmer Ray Sievers Jr.

He is survived by a brother: Larry A. Sievers; and a sister-in-law: Shirley Stipich-Sievers. He was preceded in death by a brother: Thomas Lee Sievers.

A private graveside memorial will be held in Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery in House Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill.
