James R. “Jim” Dunham, 88, of Festus died Aug. 9, 2021, in Festus. Mr. Dunham was a retired meat cutter, having worked for Queen’s Grocery Stores in Hillsboro, De Soto and Barnhart. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Festus. Born Aug. 22, 1932, in Fosterburg, Ill., eh was the son of the late Thelma Etta (Wideman) Maupin and Ola Dunham.
He is survived by his wife: Gay (Sago) Dunham; two sons: Stanley (Samantha) Dunham of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Steven (Nancy) Dunham of Union; a daughter: Debbie (Todd) Gurnow of Festus; five grandchildren: Katrina (Curtis) Fox, Andrew Dunham, Stephanie (Brendan) Hendricks, Matt (Nicole) Gurnow and Tim Gurnow; two great-grandchildren: Kael Fox and Elethea Fox; a brother: Raymond (Pat) Roberts of Piedmont; and two sisters: Florence (Wiley) Sims of Festus and Louise (the late Clifford) Smith of Kankakee, Ill. He was preceded in death by seven brothers: Floyd David Dunham, Leonard (the late Dorothy) Murphy, Ervin Dunham, Lester “Pete” Dunham, Marvin Dunham, Ralph Dunham and Russell (the late Willie) Dunham; and four sisters: Charlotte (the late Harry Sr.) Barnes, Frieda Fannon, Gladys (the late Jack) Ritter and Josephine Robbins.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at noon Friday, Aug. 13, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus, officiated by Brother Matt Culbertson, Pastor of Faith Baptist Church. Burial with full military honors will take place in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
