Hunot, James

James P. Hunot Sr., 78, of Valles Mines died Feb. 16, 2020, at Kindred Hospital Mercy South in St. Louis County. Mr. Hunot was a retired pressman for the St. Louis Post Dispatch. After his retirement, he became a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of the De Soto Community Church of God and Amvets Post 48, a charter member of Amvets Riders and a former board member of Camp Hope. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Born Jan. 18, 1942, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Ewald Oliver and Elvera Elsie (Migrone) Hunot.

He is survived by his wife: Linda C. (Cross) Hunot of Valles Mines; two children: James P. Hunot Jr. of De Soto and Michael Hunot of Desloge; and one grandchild: Andrew Hunot of Columbia.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Jack Hunot.

Visitation is at noon followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. Burial is in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
