James Langston Etling Sr., 85, of Arnold died June 26, 2020, in Fenton. Mr. Etling was a union grocery baker at Kroger Bakery and a member of the Teamsters. Born Sept. 26, 1934, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Pearl (Goode) and Frederick J. Etling. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years: Janice L. (Jones) Etling.
He is survived by three sons: Kevin Etling of St. Louis, Christopher (JoAnn) Etling of Crystal City and David Etling of Arnold; four daughters: Geneva (Timothy) Neis of Osage Beach, Renee (Mark) Birmingham of Jefferson City, Cheryl Etling of St. Louis and Connie (John) Stout of Festus; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son: James L. Etling Jr.; a brother; a sister; and a brother-in-law.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until funeral services at 12:45 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Hoffmeister Funeral Home, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, in south St. Louis County. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital Neonatal Unit. Arrangements are under the direction of Hoffmeister Funeral Home.
