James L. “Jim” McKinstry, 69, of Herculaneum died June 8, 2016, at his home. Mr. McKinstry was a retired locomotive engineer from Burlington-Northern Railroad (formerly Frisco Railroad), a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of VFW Post 3777. Born Dec. 21, 1946, in DuQuoin, Ill., he was the son of the late Floyd and Mary (Hardin) McKinstry.
He is survived by his wife: Linda M. (Meyer) McKinstry; one son: Matthew J. McKinstry of Herculaneum; one daughter: Amy B. McKinstry of Herculaneum; one sister: Brenda McKinstry of Barnhart; and one brother: Doug (Candice) McKinstry of Imperial.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
