James Edward “Jim” Fears, 77, of Hillsboro died Jan. 28, 2022, at his home. Mr. Fears was retired from General Motors and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro who enjoyed woodworking, sports and fishing. Born Jan. 1, 1945, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Thomas and Helen (Allen) Fears.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Richlynn Fears.
He is survived by his companion: Gloria Coble of Hillsboro; four children: Steve (Keran) Fears of Hillsboro, Kelley (Kevin) Esker of Effingham, Ill., Kathi Fears of Lake St. Louis and Rachael Fears of Hillsboro; two stepchildren: Jeff Humphrey of Troy, Ill., and David (Emily) Manglesdorf of Fulton, Ind.; a sister: Linda (Rick) Webb; a brother-in-law: Larry Hovis; nine grandchildren: Brandon, Corisa, Alyson, Mackenzie, Cory, Kayla, Andrea, Sarah and Grace; six great-grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Carolynn Hovis; and a granddaughter: Emily.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at First Baptist Church of Hillsboro, 10545 Business 21, in Hillsboro, followed immediately by funeral services. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, or via its website.
