Golden, James

James E. Golden, 83, of Hillsboro died Oct. 2, 2019, at St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis County. Mr. Golden was a farmer and later the founder and president of Unitron. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of  Joachim Lodge 164 A.F. and A.M. and First Free Will Baptist Church in De Soto. He was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Evansville, Ind., the son of the late Wilbert and Marie (Holland) Moore.

He is survived by his wife: Elberta (Simmons) Golden of Hillsboro; six children: Tommy Golden of Hillsboro,

Tim Herron of Hillsboro, Todd (Dianna) Golden of Byrnes Mill, Tonya (John) Youngblood of Cadet, Tracy Golden of Robertsville and Terri (David) Fortner of De Soto; a brother: Guy William “Bill” (Barb) Golden of Cornelius, N.C.; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Tami Roberts)

A funeral service was held Oct. 7 at First Free Will Baptist Church in De Soto, officiated by Brother Bob Thebeau. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Peace Pantry, 8100 S. Industrial Dr., Cedar Hill, 63016. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
