Ivy “Georgette” Kennedy, 95, of Festus died Dec. 24, 2019, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Kennedy was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Festus. She had worked in the Small Arms Munitions Plant in St. Louis during World War II and at the Curtiss-Wright Corporation as a riveter. She also performed at the Peabody Opera House with the USO shows in the 1940s. Born Jan. 22, 1924, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Irene (Schmidt) and Edwin A. Ogletree. She was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Leeroy Kennedy Sr.

She is survived by four daughters: Virginia (the late Dennis) Ocello of Herculaneum, Deborah (Bill) Becker of Festus, Ann (Bob) Hoffman of Festus and Georgia (Ramon) Paterno of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sons: Thomas L. (Diana) Kennedy Jr. of Hillsboro, James (Donna) Kennedy of De Soto and David (Lisa) Kennedy of Festus; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Virginia (the late Harry) Binsbacher and Myrtle (the late Jack) Roach; and a brother: Edwin (the late Margie) Ogletree.

A memorial gathering is at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3551 Hwy. 61, south of Festus, officiated by Pastor Kayla Roe. Burial will be in the Danby Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
