Hershel Arthur Dugan, 79, of Festus died Dec. 12, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.
Mr. Dugan was a procurement manager for the Hematite nuclear fuels production facility for 30 years. He retired when ownership was held by Westinghouse, but also worked under Gulf United, United Nuclear, Combustion Engineering, and ABB. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Festus/Crystal City, where he was very active with the food pantry, and participated in many church activities. He also was a volunteer golf marshal for the Oak Valley Golf Course in Pevely.
He was born Oct. 14, 1942, in Marked Tree, Ark., the son of the late Verbaline Vandiver (Clark) Lingle and Guy Arthur Dugan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Judith Kay (Wilson) Dugan; and a brother Michael (Deborah survives of Des Peres) Dugan.
He is survived by a son: David (Sandy) Dugan of Festus; a daughter: Lesley (Jerry) Vinyard of Pevely; three sisters: Karen Worley of Herculaneum, Joette (Jim) Nanney of Festus and Joline (Todd) Alexander of Festus; a brother: Joe Lingle of South St. Louis County; four grandchildren Aaron (fiance Abby) Dugan, Christian Dugan, Drew (Niki) Smith and Cole Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church, 113 Grand Ave., in Festus on Friday, Dec. 17, from 9 a.m. until the funeral services at 10 a.m. Services will be officiated by Pastor Tish Green. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the food pantry or the chair lift project at First United Methodist Church.
