Herbert “Boots” Hubbard, 85, of St. Louis died Aug. 30, 2015, at Bethesda Southgate in St. Louis County. Mr. Hubbard was retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Crystal City after 43 years and was an active member of the Glassworkers Union. He was an avid golfer, competing in the men’s league at Suburbia Country Club, and enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. Born July 28, 1930, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Dovie May (Donald) and Howard Hubbard Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Doris (Cowan) Hubbard of St. Louis, whom he married June 23, 1951, in Pocahontas, Ark.; three children: Steven Hubbard, Linda Seibold and John Hubbard; a brother: Garry D “Butch” Hubbard; and five grandchildren: Christopher Seibold, Mark Seibold, Patrick Hubbard, Jackson Hubbard and Megan Hubbard.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Howard Hubbard Jr.
Visitation is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the funeral home, officiated by Chaplain Robert Eigenrauch. Memorials may be made to the De Soto School District Shoe Fund, c/o Central Office, 610 Vineland School Road, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
