Helen M. Rickus, 87, and John R. Rickus, 85, of Bloomsdale died June 30, 2020, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The couple had been married 47 years. Helen, an accomplished seamstress, had worked for the former Georgia Pacific factory in Ste. Genevieve and John had been an independent insurance salesman. They loved camping, fishing and doing outdoor activities together.
They are survived by six sons: William Boeckstiegel of St. Clair, Thomas Boeckstiegel of Ste. Genevieve, Barry (Karen) Boeckstiegel of Festus, Donald Boeckstiegel of Bloomsdale, David (Cheryl) Boeckstiegel of Westfield, Ind., and John (Beth) Boeckstiegel of Bloomsdale; five grandchildren: Dawn Alford, Richard Boeckstiegel, Scott Boeckstiegel, Corinne Brown and Kyle Boecksteigel; 10 great-grandchildren: Marisa Alford, Cole Alford, Alexis Alford, Gavyn Boeckstiegel, Sophia Boeckstiegel, Cadyn Boeckstiegel, Ethen Boeckstiegel, Gwendolyn Boeckstiegel, Devon Flota and Brock Boeckstiegel; one great-great-granddaughter: Brinley Alford; and two sisters: Delores Smith of Cuba, Mo., and Susan (Roger) Thorson of Fairview Heights, Ill.
Funeral services and burial were private. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
