Helen G. Whitter, 99, of De Soto died June 17, 2021, at the Villas in De Soto. Mrs. Whitter was a homemaker. Born May 13, 1922, in Leadington, she was the daughter of the late Duard Carlus and Lula (Hasley) Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband: Marvin J. Whitter.
She is survived by three children: Gloria Boyts of De Soto, Pat Dennis of Farmington and Nancy (Bill) Meyers of Bentonville, Ark.; a son-in-law: Thomas Haley of Festus; 13 grandchildren: Sherri, Missy, Danette, Pam, Karen, Andrea, Lisa, Scott, Billy, Lauren, Sarah, Michaelle and Dawn; and 16 great-grandchildren: Lindsay, Kelsey, Kaylee, Matthew, Emily, Kali, Koy, Cami, Delaney, Wyatt, Cortnie, Cassitie, Will, Charlotte, Logan, and Ethan.
She was preceded in death by two daughters: Merlyn Haley and infant Delores Jean Whitter; a son: Carlus Whitter; two sons-in-law: Albert “Bud” Boyts and Bobby Dennis; two brothers: Floyd Brooks and Frank Brooks; and five sisters: Bernice Dunn, Lola Graves, Juanita Scott, Mable Hamlett and Mary Joan LaChance.
A funeral service was held June 21 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by Derry Bowling. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
