Walker, Helen

Helen “Charline” Walker, 91, of Godfrey, Ill., died Sept. 18, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill. Mrs. Walker was a “Bingo Queen” and will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her devotion to caring for others. She enjoyed spending time with family. Born April 25, 1929, in Rosemont, Ill., she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Hampton) Sutton. She was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Walker.

She is survived by two children Leanne (Bob) Burrows of Cottleville and Donna (Larry) Winters of Godfrey, Ill.; a daughter-in-law: Cheryl Morrison of Hazelwood; three siblings: John (Lurea) Sutton of Bonne Terre, Don (Charlotte) Sutton of Victoria, Texas, and Grace Manley of Rio Linda, Calif.; four grandchildren: John H. Kohler, James L. Kohler, Melanie (Richard) Vilardo and Michael Talley; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends; and her beloved dog: Daisy.

A memorial gathering is scheduled at 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at First Free Will Baptist Church in De Soto, officiated by Brother Bob Thebeau. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
