Goodwin, Harry

Harry Doyle Goodwin, 81, of Pevely died April 19, 2020, at his home. Mr. Goodwin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959. He worked for Doe Run until his retirement in 1990, then worked as a custodian and on the football chain crew at Herculaneum High School. He was very active in the Herculaneum School District’s sports. He enjoyed fishing, horseshoes, washers, hunting, horses and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born July 24, 1938, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Frieda Marie (Young) and Harry “Doyle” Goodwin Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Patricia A. (Tobin) Goodwin; three daughters: Cindy (Daniel) Rundel of Louisburg, Kan., Pamela (Scott) Grohs of Carrollton and Cheryl (Brian) Snell of Robertsville; three sons: Harry (Michelle) Goodwin of Louisburg, Sean (Tonya) Goodwin of Pevely and Ronnie Weldon of Imperial; 18 grandchildren: Christina, Jason, Steven, Jennifer, Joanna, Bill, Katie, Leah, Rachel, Nathan, Lauren, Collin, Jackson, Chase, Natalie, Kyle, Kaitlyn and Curtis; 15 great-grandchildren: Devin, Hailee, Addison, Aiden, Lucian, Kenzie, Kyra, Kendra, Rowdy, Ellaina, Layla, Peyton, Samuel, Griffin and Sadie; a sister: Sandy (Harold) Maness of De Soto; a brother: Bob (Sheridan) Goodwin of De Soto; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Sydney Jo Miller; a sister: Delores (the late Don) Taylor; and a brother: Dale Joseph (the late Rose) Goodwin.

Private burial was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the John Cochran V.A. Medical Oncology Department or the Gary Sinise Foundation. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
