Alford, Harold

Harold Herman Alford, 92, of Crystal City, formerly of Springfield, died Jan. 22, 2016, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. Mr. Alford was a machinist for Trailmobile, a maintenance worker for Zenith and a member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church. He was a decorated World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Born March 26, 1923, in Springfield, he was the son of the late Ida (Hoteling) and Ed Alford.

He is survived by his wife: Marietta Elizabeth (Lawson) Alford; two sons: Michael (Anna) Alford of Crystal City and Bruce (Laura) Alford of Springfield; three grandchildren: Matthew (Melissa) Alford, Wendy (Brad) Eubanks and Carrie (Miles) Ross; and two great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Roberta (the late Hubert) Leech; his twin brother: Gerald (the late Flontine) Alford; and one great-granddaughter: Karlie Eubanks.

Visitation is at 11:30 a.m. and a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus, officiated by Pastor Karen Tutak. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
