Lucas, Gloria

Gloria Jeannie Lucas, 74, of Hillsboro died Jan. 12, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Ms. Lucas worked in the daycare at Peace Tabernacle Church. She was a devoted member and song leader of the Rose of Sharon Full Gospel Temple for 43 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and teaching her grandchildren about Jesus. Born Oct. 5, 1946, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Lyda Alberta (Cobb) Gore and stepdaughter of the late William M. Voyles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Lucas.

She is survived by four children: Rebecca (the late Kenneth) Baugher of Hillsboro, Rhonda (David) McKalip of De Soto, Shirley (Ron) Schroeder of Millstadt, Ill., and Cora (Ron Jr.) Schrum of De Soto; five siblings: Pat (Leon) Pyatt of De Soto; Debra (Rob) Owens of De Soto, Daniel “Beaver” (Kathy) Voyles of Cedar Hill, Bo Voyles of Hillsboro and Gary Voyles of St. Louis; a sister-in-law: Karen Gore of High Ridge; a brother-in-law: Sonny Bax of De Soto; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son: David O’Harver Jr.; two sisters: Betty (the late William) Voyles and Phyllis Bax; four brothers: George Gore, Bill Gore, Dave Gore and Jim Voyles; and a grandson: Tre’ Schrum.

Visitation is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at the funeral home. Burial is in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
