Glenda L. Guenther, 64, of Festus died April 15, 2019, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Guenther was an office manager for the Salvation Army. She was born Sept. 25, 1954, in East St. Louis, Ill., the daughter of Theresa “Bernice” (Boyer) Bourbon Hertweck of Festus and the late Alvin T. Bourbon Sr., and the stepdaughter of the late Greg Hertweck.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 48 years: John Phillip Guenther, whom she married Nov. 19, 1971; two children: Angie (Jeff) Merseal of Festus and Anita (Heath) Sells of Peoria, Ill.; three siblings: Alvin T. (Lynn) Bourbon Jr. of Granite City, Ill., Kathy (the late Roger) Sherman of Vichy and
Vanessa (Paul) Smith of Norfork, Ark.; five grandchildren: Natalie (Scott) Bolen, Brooke Merseal, Andrew Merseal, Hannah Sells and Elijah Sells; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 22, at the Salvation Army, 3740 Telegraph Road, in Arnold. Visitation is at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Majors Cornell and Candace Voeller. Burial is in the Fort Francis Cemetery in Fletcher. Memorials may be made to the Arnold Salvation Army, 3740 Telegraph Road, Arnold, 63010. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
