Glenda Faye Rhives, 78, of Festus died April 15, 2019, at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Crystal City. Mrs. Rhives was a cashier at a fruit market. She enjoyed her dog, working in the yard, spending time with family and friends, swimming and boating and just being around lakes. Glenda was a member of the Christian Faith and had received Christ as her Lord and Savior. Born Sept. 18, 1940, in De Soto, she was the daughter to the late James Victor and Mary (Pullen) Merseal.
She is survived by two sons: James (Debbie) Rhives Jr. of Festus and David (Maryann) Rhives of Desloge; a daughter: Cindy (Jimmy “Boot”) Hastings of De Soto; three brothers: Kenny (Sandy) Merseal of De Soto, Bobby Merseal of St Louis County and Milford Merseal of Desloge; two sisters: Betty Jo Merseal of De Soto and Loma Jean (Gary) Johnson of De Soto; a stepbrother: Leonard Pollen; 13 grandchildren: Troy, Lisa, Jennifer, Christopher J, Amanda, Brandy, Shawn, Christopher V, Joel, Adam, Lizzie, Olivia and Lillie; and 13 great-grandchildren: Tyler J, Hailee, Peyton, Kollyn, Wiley, Daveney, Eli, Justin, Alexis, William, Tyler W, Kylee and Kaden.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Jimmy Merseal; and a sister: Wanda Bailey.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, at the funeral home. Burial is in the Mount Olive Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
