Gilbert John Moser, Jr., 79 of Hillsboro, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at his home. Mr. Moser was a manager with Jefferson County Water District 7. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Hillsboro and Knights of Columbus Council 6401 in Hillsboro. Born Nov. 24, 1936, in Crystal City, he was the son of the late Rosie E. (Carron) and Gilbert John Moser Sr.
He is survived by wife: Linda (Govero) Moser; a daughter: Rose Mary (Philip) Jones of Hillsboro; three sons: Gilbert J. Moser III of Hillsboro, Jeffrey (Yvonne) Moser of Festus and Wesley (Bonnie) Moser of Hillsboro; a sister: Nira Moser of St. Louis; a brother: Oliver John (the late Agnes) Moser of Festus; a sister-in-law: Verneda Moser of Festus; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son: Joseph Moser; four sisters: Marie (the late David) Middleton, Margaret (the late Ed) Miller, Betty Ann (the late Alfred) Pullen and RitaMae E. Moser; and a brother: Clifford J. Moser.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Hillsboro, officiated by Father Chris Holtman, Father Dennis Schmitt and Deacon Jerry Stoverink. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
