Gerald W. Gannon, 78, of De Soto died Jan. 7, 2022, at his home. Mr. Gannon retired as an insurance agent for Allstate. He was a member of VFW Post 1831, Amvets Post 48, Elks Lodge 689 and De Soto Lodge 119 A.F. & A.M. Born Dec. 11, 1943, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dorine (Solomon) Gannon. He was preceded in death by his wife: Barbara J. (Boyer) Gannon.
He is survived by three children: Shelley (David) Ungerank of De Soto, Stephanie (Jim) McCullough of De Soto and Stacey (Victor Thebeau Jr.) Gannon of De Soto; four grandchildren: Randi (Chris) Dimberger of Cape Girardeau, Ryan (Cassie) Ungerank of Cape Girardeau, Taylor Carron of Affton and Victor Lee Thebeau III of Hillsboro; four great-grandchildren: Charlie, Gracie, Beck and Emma; his companion: Cyndy Bradley of De Soto; her four children: Brad (Christina) Gravagna, Jeffrey Gravagna, Stephanie (T.J.) Drummond, David (Amy) Gravagna; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother: Wendell Eugene Gannon.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home, officiated by Gary Eubanks. Burial is in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Farmington Presbyterian Manor Alzheimer’s Unit, 500 Cayce St., Farmington, 63640. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
