Squires, Gerald

Gerald "Jerry" Squires, 81, of Bloomsdale died June 27, 2022, at his home. Mr. Squires was

a member of IBEW Local 1 and Bloomsdale American Legion Post 554. He enjoyed spending time outdoors cooking, taking trips to the Black River and spending time with his family.  He liked to drink beer with his family and friends and watch Nascar races. Born May 6, 1941, in Mexico, Mo., he was the son of the late Charles and Geneva (Osborne) Squires. He was preceded in death by his wife: Lois Elaine (Mullins) Squires.

He is survived by three daughters: Lauri (Kevin) Brawley of Bloomsdale, Shelley (Jeff) Gettinger of Ste. Genevieve and Juli (Terry) Parker of Bloomsdale; a son: Kenny (DeAnn) Squires of Bloomsdale; two brothers: Ronald (Donna) Squires of Barnhart and Donald (Judy) Squires of Live Oak, Fla.; 13 grandchildren: Jill (Wesley) Barnett, Jessica (special friend Mike Mentel) Brawley, Dustin (Jayne) Brawley, Josh (Jess) Brawley, Kayla (Colby) Schilly, Kelsey Gettinger, Justin Parker, Daniele (Luke) Winters, Courtney (Billy) Venz, Morgan (fiance Trent Richardet) Squires, Kobe Squires, Kylee (fiance Brenden Graff) Kinnard and Klayton Squires; 19 great-grandchildren; and his dog and best friend, Blondie.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 1, at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. Visitation is from 8 a.m. until a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Greg McCord. Burial is in the Squires Cemetery in Bloomsdale. Arrangements are under the direction of Basler Funeral Home.
