George Michael Short, 66, of De Soto died March 23, 2019. Mr. Short was a third- generation baker in St. Louis. He enjoyed going to the lake, walking trails and being outdoors. He especially loved spending time with family and friends. Born Nov. 3, 1952, he was the son of Walter Short Jr. and the late Lillian (Schlichter) Garner.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife: Deborah (Kleier) Short; six children: Noelle (Brian) Wright of Liberty, Texas, Sara Short of Oregon, and Jacob Cottrell, David (Sabrina) Edsall, Mike Edsall and Robert (Gloria) Edsall, all of Collinsville, Ill.; 14 grandchildren: Valkyrie, Freya, Deborah “DJ,” Gwendolyn, Gracie, Gianna, Eric, Augusta, Josh, Tara, Kyle, Jake, Erikka and Robbie; nine great-grandchildren; three siblings: Rose Richmann of Arnold, Carol Harkey of Chesterfield, Melody (Joe) Brasier of St. Peters; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by Gina Davis.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the services at noon, Saturday, March 30, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Hospital’s Cancer Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Cancer Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Hoffmeister South County Chapel.
