Van Cleave, George

George L. Van Cleave Jr., 73, of Imperial died April 20, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County.  Mr. Van Cleave was a welder with Stupp Brothers Bridge & Iron Co. for more than 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Born March 3, 1942, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Irene (Stover) and George L. Van Cleave Sr.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years: Josephine (Tucker) Van Cleave; three children: Valerie (Steve) Boning, Victoria (Joseph) Ruoff and George (Sandi) Van Cleave: eight grandchildren: Erik, Matthew, Joseph, Lauren, Mackenzie, Faith, Ryan and Shane; two sisters: Diane Klingerman of St. Charles and Gloria Meyer of Arnold: and several siblings-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: Cameron Joseph Van Cleave; and a sister: Marjorie Van Cleave.

Funeral Mass was held April 24 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Imperial. Burial with full military honors was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home in south St. Louis County.
