Gary Thomas Staat, 66, of Festus died Aug. 20, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Staat was a manager for Briggs Auto Body in Sappington. He enjoyed playing pickleball, gardening, golf, hunting, building model cars, and collecting. He loved the Christmas season, and the most important things to him were God, faith and family. Born Jan. 15, 1952, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Norvel Joseph and Rosemary (Prosser) Staat.
He is survived by two sons: Jordan (Samantha) Staat of Imperial and Zachary Staat of Festus; two daughters: Danielle (Sam Kaestner) Staat of St. Louis and Tisha (Jerry) Standefer of Cabool; three brothers: his twin, Gene (Donna) Staat of Arnold, David Staat of Fenton and James (Justine) Staat of High Ridge; two sisters: Mary Kay Coomer of Fenton and Tracy (Brian) Saake of Ellisville; and four grandchildren: Ashlyn, Aiden, Elum and Judah.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Bethany Staat; and a sister: Linda Bogad.
A memorial gathering is at 4 p.m. and a memorial service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Jack King.
