Gary Lynn Carter, 74, of Herculaneum died Feb. 22, 2022, at his home. Mr. Carter was a district manager for Wang Laboratories, working in numerous regions of the United States, and also worked for Midwest Associates in Hillsboro. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and an artist who enjoyed sculpting and woodworking. Born in Caruthersville, he was the son of the late Dorothy J. (Hepler) and Leslie B. Carter.
He is survived by his wife: Mary C. (Flieg) Carter of Herculaneum; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Marie (Ray survives of Herculaneum) Drinen and Jean “Penny” Buechting.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely, officiated by Pastor Scott Parker. Burial is in the Herculaneum Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
