Gary Lee Lupkey, 65, Festus
Gary Lee Lupkey, 65, of Festus died Aug. 18, 2021, at his home. Mr. Lupkey, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, worked most recently at the Veterans Administration at Jefferson Barracks. He also operated a lawn service for years in the Festus/Crystal City area. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1721 and served several years on the Festus Park Board. He enjoyed car shows, concerts, and spending time with family and friends. Born April 24, 1956, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Donna (Bob) Godwin and Charles (Dorothy) Lupkey.
He is survived by his wife: Debra (Earls) Lupkey; two daughters: Karen Lupkey and Louise Lupkey, both of Festus; two brothers: Steve (Hilda) Lupkey of Hawaii and Robert (Dawn) Godwin of Florida; two grandchildren: Kayden Cook and Kayne Lupkey; and numerous other family members, as well as the family dog, Thelma.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W Main, in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a veterans organization of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
