Moss, Gary

Gary D. Moss, 67, of Pevely died Feb. 2, 2018, at his home. Mr. Moss was a middle school teacher in both the Dunklin R-5 an Fox C-6 school districts. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Imperial and Elks Lodge 1721 in Festus, and was a volunteer with the “Hammers of Hope” program of the Jefferson County Community Partnership. Born May 17, 1950, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Alleen Katherine (Kuenzle) and William Charles Moss.

He is survived by his wife: Kay (Kraus) Moss; two children: Jeffrey Moss of High Ridge and Julie (Alex) Schimsa of Imperial; three grandchildren: Katelynn, Sarah and Garrett Schimsa; a sister: Karen Meister of Imperial; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Carla Greer; and a brother-in-law: Clark Greer.

Visitation is at 11 a.m. and a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 6610 St. Luke’s Church Road, in Imperial, officiated by Pastor Vicki Hampton. Luncheon and fellowship will follow immediately after. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ or the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
