Gail Behrens, 67, of Bonne Terre died Feb. 8, 2018. Mrs. Behrens was a retired Lutheran school teacher and also taught in the Head Start program in Jefferson County. She also was a deputy with the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Department. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills.
Born Oct. 9, 1950, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late William Sanders and Loretta (Ladusaw) Saunders.
Gail is survived by her husband: David Behrens; five daughters: Mandie Swart, Wendy (Dennis) Henderson, April (Tommy) Steffen, Martha (fiance John) Pippin, Christina (Michael) Millerbaugh; 12 grandchildren: Robert (Tera) Buschman II, Baliana Swart, Kiley Swart, Vittoria (Austin) Haegle, Ryan Butler, Kristen Butler, Ashlee Birdwell, Jenna May Millerbaugh, Wyatt Millerbaugh, Waylon Millerbaugh, Taris Steffen and Alyssa Steffen; four great-grandchildren: Drake Buschman, Preston Buschman, Raelynn Buschman and Bella Faith Haegele; and four sisters: Elnora Treoger, Elizabeth Prater, Edith Ann Fortuna and Etta Janes.
She was preceded in death by one brother: William Sanders; two sisters: Gloria McGraw and Margie Kloster; and one son-in-law: Kent Freeman Swart.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at the Amvets Post 42, 690 Joachim Drive, in Herculaneum. Arrangements are under the direction of C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre.
