Franklin Delano “Frank” Holst, 82, of Hillsboro died June 28, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Holst was a truck driver with Carolina Freight in St. Louis for 29 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Ste. Genevieve. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving four years aboard the USS Valley Forge as a flight crew member. After his retirement in 1994, he enjoyed hobbies like playing guitar, gardening, reading, woodworking and water skiing. He was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Festus,  the son of the late Jessie Elizabeth (Carron) and Lawrence Holst.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Nancy (Crader) Holst; a daughter: Lisa (Dan) Minney of Pontoon Beach, Ill.; two brothers: Larry (Beverly) Holst of Park Hills and Charles (Ruth) Holst of De Soto; two sisters-in-law: Janet (the late George) Stewart of Fenton and Kathy Holst of Troy; a brother-in-law: Ronald Tolbert of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren: Erica (Steve) Norsic, Andrea Minney, Joshua (Maegan) Minney, Jacob Minney and Caleb Minney; and four great-grandchildren: Ethan and Alexis Norsic and Carter and Addy Minney.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Deborah Sue Holst; two sisters: Bernice (the late Jim) Scott and Linda Tolbert; four brothers: Harley (the late Patsy) Holst, Thomas Holst, Arthur (the late Lois) Holst and John David Holst; a sister-in-law: Karen Wadlow; and a brother-in-law: Milford “Mac” Crader.

A funeral service was held July 1 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Burial was in Parkview Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements were under the direction of  Vinyard Funeral Home.
