Franklin D. Reed, 80, of Hillsboro died Feb. 22, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Reed owned and operated the Reed Appraisal Service. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He was born July 25, 1936, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Allen Edward and Myrtle May (Miller) Reed.
He is survived by his wife: Waltraud “Trudy” (Loh) Reed; a daughter: Amanda “Mandy” (Michael) Reed-Luchtefeld of Hillsboro; eight sisters and brothers: Dr. Martha Reed, Helen Agnello, David (Janet) Reed, Robert “Bob” Reed, Dr. Leslie (Mary Beth) Reed, Roger Reed and Mary Jane (Lloyd) Thebeau, all of Hillsboro, and Marcella Luechtefeld of Glencoe; two sisters-in-law: Liz Reed and Linda Bauman Reed, both Hillsboro and a granddaughter: Emma Kindred of Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Don Reed and Eugene “Pete” Reed; a sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Reed; and four brothers-in-law, George Hayes, Sal Agnello, Harold Luechtefeld, and Norbert Thomeczek.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Dennis Murphy. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
