Friedman, frank

Frank L. Friedman, 86, of Hillsboro died May 26, 2016, at Hillcrest Nursing Center in De Soto. Mr. Friedman had worked as a mail handler for Terminal Railroad and a truck driver for Truitt Campbell, and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in De Soto. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and hiking. Born Oct. 3, 1929, in Affton, he was the son of the late Joe and Anna (Buehler) Friedman.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Catherine (Dazinskas) Friedman of Hillsboro; a son: Richard (Carolyn) Friedman of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother: Ray Friedman of Union; a sister: Dorothy Heitzman of St. Louis; two grandchildren: Brian (Jennifer) Friedman and Sarah (Joe) Olivas, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; two step-grandchildren: Hannah (Austin) Beer and Grace Rasmussen, both of Phoenix; and six great-grandchildren: Lia, Austin, Dallas, Marshall, Elise and Hudson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Joe (the late Marian) Friedman and Art (the late Rita) Friedman; a sister-in-law: Patricia Friedman; and a brother-in-law: Killian Heitzman.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 523 S. Fourth St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima Church, 504 S. Third, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
