Francis A. Braun, 83, of Arnold died Dec. 27, 2021, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Braun retired from McDonnell-Douglas after more than 40 years. He was a Catholic and held many positions with the Knights of Columbus, including state deputy. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member and president of the Gateway Clown Club. He was involved with Boy Scouts of America Troop 430, holding several leadership positions, was on the visitor’s board of Cardinal Glennon Hospital and was an announcer for Special Olympics events throughout Missouri. He was born Jan. 24, 1938, in Ste. Genevieve.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Mary Jo (Henenberg) Braun of Arnold; two children: Mark F. (Jeanie M.) Braun of Blue Eye and Kelly A. (William) Swaller of Goshen, Ind.; a sister: Janet (Braun) Bachmann; two grandchildren: Jamie (Swaller) Oaks and Cory Swaller, both of Goshen, Ind.; and two great-grandchildren: Brody Oaks and Avery Oaks, both of Goshen, Ind.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday Dec. 31, 2021, at St. David’s Catholic Church, 2334 Tenbrook Road, in Arnold. Memorials may be made to Special Olympics, 1133 19th Street NW, 12th Floor, Washington DC 20036-3604.
