Evelyn Jean “Evie” Drummond, 31, of Katy, Texas, formerly of De Soto died Jan. 21, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Drummond, a 2006 graduate of De Soto High School, played softball for the Dragons and Maryville University in St. Louis, where she earned an athletic scholarship. She joined the U.S. Air Force and earned the rank of technical sergeant in the security forces; she served two tours in Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, earning numerous awards and commendations, then joined the Air Force Reserves in 2018. She also played in softball leagues in Florida. Born June 16, 1988, in Crystal City, she was the daughter of Lauren (Ed) Juliette of De Soto and the late Joseph Raymond Drummond.

She is survived by her wife of four years: Lindsey Marie Rujawitz; two brothers: Jarod (Lauren) Drummond of Festus and Ben (Kelly) Drummond of Valles Mines; two stepsisters: Cassi (Eric) Coleman of Richwoods and Kayla (Ryan) Robinson of De Soto; her parents-in-law: Tony and Lori Rujawitz of Edwardsville, Ill.; two brothers-in-law: Tyler (Abbey) Rujawitz of Alhambra, Ill., and Tate Rujawitz of Edwardsville; 10 nieces and nephews with another to be born; numerous family members and friends; three dogs: Boston, Brooklyn and Buster; and a cat: Storm.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Schmidt Funeral Home, 1344 W. Grand Parkway South, in Katy, Texas. Vigil service and Rosary will be held at 7 p.m., officiated by Paul Guidry. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home, officiated by Chaplain Daniel Schramm. Burial with full military honors will follow at the National Cemetery at Houston. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
