Eugene “Gene” Boynton, 82, of De Soto died Feb. 7, 2019, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Boynton was a new-store installer for Western Auto. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of Amvets Post 48 and Elks Lodge 689 in De Soto. Born June 1, 1936, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Lillian (Dabbs) and Selmer Boynton.
He is survived by his wife: Carol L. (Graham) Boynton of De Soto; three children: Michael (Judy) Boynton, Debra (John) Price and Laura Boynton, all of De Soto; three siblings: Don Boynton of Farmington, Ron Boynton of Crystal City and Carol Manning of North Carolina; seven grandchildren: Jacob (Amy) Walker, Meagan (Jon) Adams, Chelsea (Sam) Price, Brittney (Dylan) Moiser, Brandon Boynton, Garrett Flynn and Graham Boynton; and three great-grandchildren: Olivia, Drew and Augustus.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A memorial service will follow immediately, officiated by the Rev. Dr. G. Michael Rose. Memorials may be made to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation; to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; or to the Salvation Army. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
