Elton Lee Brown, 89, of Hillsboro died May 16, 2020, at his home. Mr. Brown was an auto mechanic who worked on the assembly line at General Motors, a member of the United Auto Workers, and a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church in Herculaneum, where he served as deacon and was involved in the music ministry. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing, and often sang at nursing homes with his wife. Born Dec. 10, 1930, in Jonesboro, Ark., he was the son of the late Martha (Branscum) and Anthony Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Laura Mae (Dyer) Brown.
He is survived by a daughter: Debbie (John) Bolin of Crystal City; a grandson: Joshua (Brittany) McKeen of Festus; a great-grandson: Liam McKeen; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Jennifer Prunty; a grandson: David Michael Bolin; four brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services were held May 22 at Mahn Funeral Home in Festus, officiated by the Rev. James Kitchen. Burial was in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
