Elmo Dewayne Branson, 84, of Arnold died Sept. 1, 2017, in Des Peres. Mr. Branson was a civil engineer and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Arnold. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 101st Airborne at Fort Jackson, S.C. He enjoyed fast pitch softball, ping pong, driving his tractors and lawnmowers and taking his family to eat at Wendy’s. Born Feb. 2, 1933, in Cuba, Mo., he was the son of the late Arvil and Ida (Mundy) Branson.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley J. Grisham) Branson; two sons: Kent Branson and Kevin (Rita) Branson; a daughter: Kimberly (Robert) Stovall of Arnold; 13 grandchildren; and a brother: Glenn (Anna) Branson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Melvin Branson and Alvin Branson; and five sisters: Olga Frederickson, Zelma Woodruff, Evelyn Pinnell, Mamie Lee Branson and Ina Murdick.
A celebration of life was held Sept. 4 at Hope Vineyard Church. Burial was in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to Birthright or to Hope Vineyard Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home in Arnold.
