Elizabeth “Betty” (Hayes) Weatherby, 78, of House Springs died Oct. 25, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Weatherby was a familiar face in the community during her career opening the original Wal-Mart in House Springs, where she remained until retiring when the store relocated to High Ridge. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in House Springs. Born July 1, 1942, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius and Lorraine (Sylvia) Hayes. She was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth Weatherby.
She is survived by five children: Kevin (Melanie) Weatherby of Atlanta, Ga., Pam (Mark) Booth of Florida, Tim (Julie) Weatherby of House Springs, Christopher (Lindsey) Weatherby of St. Louis and Elizabeth (Mike) Kreminski of House Springs; two siblings: Mike (Pat) Hayes of Ohio and Kathy (Terry) Kordonowy of St. James; 14 grandchildren: Kristen, Amy, Justin, Jordan, Kelsey, Sidney, Samantha, Stephen, Keith, C.J., Jordy, Rowan, Kaylee and Reissen; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: Mary Lou Russell, Rich Hayes, Robert Hayes, Jim Hayes and Joe Hayes.
Memorial Mass was held Oct. 29 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in House Springs. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
