Werner, Elaine

Elaine Marie (Cook) Werner, 68, of De Soto died June 8, 2019, at her home. Ms. Werner, a member of the Catholic faith, had worked as a home health care provider. She enjoyed doing puzzles and games, playing bingo, going to the casino and, above all, spending time with her family. Born Jan. 30, 1951, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Lorine (Courtway) Cook and Gerald M. Cook Sr.

She is survived by two children: Gary Michael Chotrow of Bonne Terre and Amanda Kay Rogers of De Soto; seven siblings: Michael J. (Melia) Cook of St. Thomas, USVI, Gerald M. (Holly) Cook Jr. of St. Louis, Mark S. (Brenda) Cook of Lonedell, Laura L. (Chrys) Marlow of Festus, Catherine R. (Mike) Hankins of Festus, Nancy M. (Tom) Short of High Ridge and Zachary S. Cook of High Ridge; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Rogers of De Soto, Katelyn Rogers of Fenton and Melanie and Stephanie Rogers, both of De Soto; one great-grandchild: Ava Marie Messmer, with another on the way; her former husband: Keith Werner of Crystal City; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Christopher Lynn Cook.

Ms. Werner chose cremation. A celebration of life will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, June 18, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Anheuser Busch Eye Institute, to the National Kidney Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
