Edwin J. Braun, 95, Arnold

Edwin J. Braun, 95, of Arnold died Feb. 20, 2021, in Arnold. Mr. Braun worked as superintendent of the river for St. Louis Ship and Steel. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and survived the kamikaze attack of the Ommaney Bay and being adrift in shark-infested water for hours waiting for rescue. He was a member of the Arnold VFW Post 2593 and the American Legion. He enjoyed golf and woodworking. Born July 5, 1925, in Lemay, he was the son of the late George and Anna Braun.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Marian Braun.

He is survived by a son: Kenneth Braun; two daughters; Cheryl Bekemeier and Lois Larimer; four grandchildren: Shane and Kristopher Kiser and Kenneth and Jennifer Braun; eight great-grandchildren: Kulin , Seth, Caleb and Luke Kiser, Jordan Holderle, Angeleena Johnson and Haylee and Leighton Braun; and a brother: Charlie

He was preceded in death by two brothers: George and Leroy; and four sisters: Helen, Marie, Ann and Evelyn.

Funeral services were this morning (Feb. 26) at Kutis South County Chapel. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorial may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis Funeral Homes.
