Edna “Imogene” Brust, 93, Pevely

Edna “Imogene” Brust, 93, of Pevely died May 3, 2021, at Scenic Nursing Center in Herculaneum. Mrs. Brust was a retired clerk for the city of Pevely and a librarian for Jefferson College in Hillsboro. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely and the VFW Post 3777 Auxiliary. She was a past board member of the Dunklin Fire Protection District and the Zion Cemetery. She enjoyed her service to her community and church. Born Sept. 5, 1927, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Minnie Bell (McDowell) Cowan.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Howard A. Brust.

She is survived by two sons: Floyd Gene (Tammy) Lee of Florissant and Steve (Carol) Brust of Pevely; a daughter: Rita Currington of Park Hills; a sister: Joann (the late Mike) Allen of De Soto; five grandchildren: Andrea (Matt) Fewell, Christopher Lee, Amy Bauman, John Schipper and Jeremy Schipper; nine great-grandchildren: Peyton, Isaac, Oliver and Lincoln Fewell, Maddie and Tyler Bauman, Haley Gilliam, Jason Loveless and Isaiah Shipper; and many other family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by a son: David Brust; a sister: Maxine (the late Cecil) Vaughn; and three brothers: Elmer “Dale” (the late Dorothy) Cowan, James (the late Christine) Cowan and Paul (the late Ruby) Cowan.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday (May 28) at Zion Lutheran Church, 310 Central Ave, in Pevely, officiated by the Rev. Bryan Roberts. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd, in St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
