Earl Gene Shoemaker, 83, of Pevely died 17, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Shoemaker was a retired graphic arts operator at Dow Chemical Co. and was a member of the Scottish Rite/ 32nd Degree Masons. He enjoyed traveling and woodworking. Born Jan. 11, 1935, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Earl Julius and Olga Jean (Purdom) Shoemaker.
He is survived by three sons: Earl “Wayne” (Debbie) Shoemaker of Pevely, Michael (Terri) Shoemaker of Barnhart and Richard (Elizabeth) Shoemaker of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters: Linda Geren of Port Canaveral, Fla., and Lori (Dan) Upchurch of Ukraine; a stepdaughter: Lynda Rizen of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister: Sharon (John) Pinkston of St. Louis; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Terry Shoemaker; and a son: William Shoemaker.
Visitation is at noon and a memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus, officiated by David Griggs and Mark McMullin. Burial is in the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to Shriner Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd, St Louis, 63131-3597. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
