Fechter, Doug

Douglas Edward  “Doug” Fechter, 60, of Festus died June 10, 2020, at his home. Mr. Fechter worked as a machinist for Ardagh Glass Inc. until his retirement. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1721 in Crystal City and Local 30 GMP, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and motocross. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was born May 19, 1960, in Streator, Ill., the son of the late Ralph Harrold and Iva Delores (Hallam) Fechter.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years: Lori Ann (McCloskey) Fechter of Festus, whom he married on Aug. 8, 1981, in Streator; three children: Terin Fechter of Crystal City,  Sarah (Jacob) Kort of Festus and Bradley Fechter of Festus; two sisters: Brenda (Jimmy) Cotroneo of Powder Springs, Ga., and Nancy (Brad) Rider of Caseyville, Ill.; four grandchildren: Brennan Fechter, Kayleigh Fechter, Hayden Kort and Brynlee Kort; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; and his two beagles, Bela and Mona.

Visitation is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins, in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, at the funeral home, officiated by ordained minister Danny Michel. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahn Twin City Chapel.
