Dorothy Mae Scego, 92, of Festus died Aug. 28, 2021, in Hillsboro. Mrs. Scego was an assembler for Kohler Kraft Plastics and a member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, shopping, going to the casino, and spending time with family. Born Aug. 11, 1929, in Valley Park, she was the daughter of the late Lulu Grace (Lynch) and George Thomas Hagen. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Kenneth C. Hampel and Paul J. Scego.
She is survived by six daughters: Mary (Jim) Gaddy of Wheatland, Wyo., Kathy (Keith) Ogle of Bloomsdale, Debbie (Denny Moneymaker) Stogsdill of Rolla, Barb (Rollis) Johnson of Montgomery, Texas, Judy (Jeff) Picha of Imperia and Dodie (Kenny) Graves of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren: Sherry Werner, Kenny Sowell, Joe Richardson, Lisa Bequette, Matt Richardson, Gary Kelly, Carrie Morgan, Jason Daniel, Mike Hampton, Mindy Daniel, Jenny Fox and Jeremy Picha; and numerous other family members.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Elizabeth Boyd; and four brothers: Cecil J. Hagen, John “Jack” Hagen, William F. Hagen and Thomas G. Hagen.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W Main St., in Festus. A funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Gregory Klump. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
