Hardesty, Dorothy

Dorothy Mae “Mrs. H” (Grigery) Hardesty, 94, of De Soto died March 8, 2022, at Baisch Nursing Center in De Soto. Mrs. Hardesty, known locally as “Mrs. H,” worked at McDonald’s in De Soto for more than 15 years. She enjoyed doing crafts, camping, traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Born Aug. 17, 1927, in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late William and Allie (Clements) Grigery. She was preceded in death by her husband: Marion Hardesty.

She is survived by two sons: Terry Hardesty of California and Joe (Janet) Hardesty of De Soto; a daughter: Mary (Thomas) Hampton of Mountain Pike, Ariz.; a brother: Eugene Grigery of Clarksville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: LeRoy (Barb) Grigery and Noel (Lynn) Grigery; and four sisters: Schrilda (Floyd) Pogue, Shirley Break, Etta Roberson and Laverne (Lawrence) Smith.

A memorial visitation was held March 14, at Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto. Burial was in the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
