Dorothy M. Helbig, 92, of Hillsboro died Feb. 6, 2021, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mrs. Helbig was a farm wife. She and her husband also owned and operated Helbig Pump and Supply, Helbig Insurance and the Dog-N-Suds and Dari-Bar restaurants. Born May 25, 1928, in Valles Mines, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Rose Anna (Cernicek) Rowe. She was preceded in death by her husband: Walter W. Helbig.
She is survived by four children: John (Laura) Helbig of Valles Mines, Sheila Beeson of Oro Valley, Ariz., Linda (Dave) Boren-Miller of Hillsboro and Sharon (Terry) Casteel of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren: Jason (Anne) Helbig, Sarah Helbig, Michelle (Matt) Eisenhauer, Stephanie (John) Umfleet, Daniel (Lisa) Hunning, Peter (Richie Thelen) Beeson, Rachel Beeson and Courtney Casteel; three step-grandchildren: Nick Casteel, Brandon (Sarah) Casteel and Alison Castee; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Paul Boren Sr.; and two grandsons: Kevin Helbig and Andrew De Clue.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Funeral services will be held privately. Burial is in the Rowe Cemetery in Valles Mines. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
