Dorothy Johnson, 91, of Richwoods died Oct. 5, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Johnson was an exceptional cook who enjoyed sharing her recipes with family and friends. She enjoyed knitting, playing Yahtzee, bird watching, watching soap operas and westerns, gardening and spending time with her family. Born Aug. 6, 1931, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Maybelle (Kramer) and Henry Weiss.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Gerald Johnson, whom she married on June 13, 1953, in St. Louis.
She is survived by two sons: Brian Johnson of Richwoods and George (Diana) Johnson of Redford, Mich.; a sister: Lavern Green of Lindsey, Okla.; six grandchildren: Jacob, Katie, Olivia, Elyn, C.J. and Darren; three great-grandchildren: Lukas, Addyson and Luke; special friend Lisa Missey of Richwoods; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Vickie McDaniel; and a sister: Deloris Steiner- Krull.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark St., in Potosi. Visitation is from 8:30 a.m. until a funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor John Jones. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore Funeral Home.
